 Cardwell Cops it Hardest

 Notice that the boat is still securely tied to the jetty. The piles at the Hinchinbrook Marina were not tall enough for the surge. During Cyclone Larry they got close enough to the top for real concern but Larry didn't hit Cardwell smack on.

 

 

 That is the Bruce Highway??!!

 This is a photo taken a few days after cyclone Larry and shows the exact street front shown in the photo above it but from ground level. The store painted green above is the hardware store selling bait and tackle at left

 This is a road trip photo session. I was on a mission to help friends in Innisfail post Larry and took photos along the way.
 Beachfront, Cardwell.
 This was the end of the road until the flooding abated. Eventually large trucks and 4X4's were allowed through, one direction at a time as you needed the whole road and surge from another truck on the road opposite direction would have made it impossible.
   
   
   A bunch of tired SES workers and a local cop take a well earned break.
   Here we go with a load of generators, tarps and other stuff.

   now the first signs... Not only the leaves but even the bark is torn away.
